Biography written in 2003

Divini Rae Sorenson grew up in a remote fishing village near Fairbanks, Alaska, to parents of Swedish/English/German/Cherokee Indian origin.

"The only way to reach the village where I was born is by plane in the winter or by boat in the summer,” Divini says. Despite the long winters, Divini grew up with a disposition as sunny as her name: "My Mother told me that the first thing she thought of when I was born was that I was like a divine ray of sunshine, and that’s why she decided to name me Divini Rae."

Growing up in a log cabin without running water or electricity, Divini was an avid reader and graduated from high school with honors, one year early. She then studied psychology (major) and journalism (minor) at an Oregon college on academic scholarship before a vacation in Sydney, Australia during her junior year at school led to a permanent change of continents.

After being discovered on Bondi Beach in Sydney by a female photographer, Divini began lingerie and swimwear modeling. She then lived between Sydney and New York City for five years, doing modeling and voice-over work, before moving to Los Angeles to work as a photographer and model.

Divini also dabbled in acting while living down under, guest starring on the popular television drama Above the Law, soap opera Home and Away, and hosted a show on which she interviewed sports celebrities. “I never had any ambition to be an actress – or a model for that matter - but I had a great time working on some excellent shows and shooting some great campaigns.” Despite her humble demeanor Divini has traveled the world, graced the covers of countless magazines, and has been featured on billboards, television commercials, and bikini calendars around the world. She is known in Australia for being one of the top models chosen to grace the cover of Inside Sport Magazine, Australia's version of the American Sports Illustrated Magazine. Divini was also published as the Miss November 2003 Playboy Playmate of the Month. Divini also became known in Australia for launching her own monthly magazine, SWAY (Sydney Will Amaze You), documenting the city’s abundant restaurants, scenic attractions, celebrities, and nightlife. “Hugh Hefner granted me an interview for the special edition issue of SWAY, and that issue is now a collector’s item,” she says.

Divini went to school and received her real estate license while in Sydney, "Because I wanted to learn how to best invest my money in real estate," she explains. Now the vivacious entrepreneur is busy photographing a calendar of famous Playmates and Actresses to be featured and sold on her website, BeautybyDivini.com. “It’ll be smokin’,” she says. Divini’s enthusiasm for what lies around the corner is infectious. This is one brainy beauty whose hands are never idle. “It’s rare that I relax,” she says. “I have so much energy that I do sit-ups to feel productive while I watch the Discovery channel.” She’s just as focused about the type of men she likes. “I see the soul, not the packaging. As in, I don’t care much about looks, though I am most attracted to exotic features.” she says. “I’m only attracted to brilliant, exceptional, magnificent human beings. I notice people with inner strength, confidence, charisma, wisdom, and sophistication – those who are articulate and creative, like to read, have a silly sense of humor, and a positive, easygoing nature. I like rugged, old-school men - not boys - who treat a lady like a lady by opening doors, speaking kindly and respectfully, and always telling the truth. I’m not into the bad-boy thing or celebrity egos; just gentlemen with manners for me thanks.”

With her high I.Q. and numerous academic achievements Divini’s parents couldn't understand how she found modeling appealing. “Being called ‘smart’ all the time gets quite tiresome. I want to be acknowledged for my looks, not my brains,” Divini jokes. "And I always have enough projects going on that challenge me - I only model because I am paid quite well to do so. I won't be 'young and pretty' forever, so I may as well make the most of it now. Besides, the money I make modeling allows me to invest, save, publish, write, dabble in photography - and pursue all of my interests."

When asked about the future, Divini is quite specific about what it is that she wants. "I've always wanted to have children. I absolutely love kids. Being 'rich and famous' isn't something I've ever wanted, cared about, or striven for - ideally I'd like to be a stay-at-home-Mother and take care of my family. Family is the most important thing in the world, and I can't wait to create one someday! A peaceful, happy life full of love, laughter, and healthy children sounds idea to me... that is my dream. I'd like to live in a little house in a small, safe town, outside of any big city.... As far as career goes, I'd like to continue to invest in real estate, write children's books, and open my own spa."

Fan Q & A with Divini Rae.

Q. You do so much... how do you have the energy for it all?
A. Actually, I don't any longer. I look back to the energy I used to have and am amazed. I went 100mph when I was younger. Now, all I really care about is taking care of my family and spending time with them. Thankfully, I accomplished just about everything I wanted to when I was in my 20s. Now that I'm in my 30s my focus is Family.

Q. Are you a religious person?
A. I believe that matters of religion and spirituality are private and should be kept private. However, I will say that I am a strong believer in karma and in the law of attraction. I come from very humble beginnings but always believed that I could do whatever I wanted to in this world. I worked very hard, took risks, focused on what I wanted, and stayed positive. I also helped many other women succeed because I believe in sisterhood, in helping others, in doing good.

Q. What countries have you been to?
A. Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Japan, Russia, Germany, England, Mexico, South Korea, Spain... that's all I can remember at the moment.

Q. You starred in a HBO-Cinemax Series where you had sex scenes with the man who played your character's boyfriend. Were you actually having sex? And are you planning on doing any more acting?
A. No, I didn't actually have sex with anyone and that's why it's called "acting." =) I've never actually seen the series though I hear it has a huge fan following. No, I'm not planning on doing any more acting.

Q. You posed for Playboy Magazine in 2003 as a Playmate. Did you date Hugh Hefner?
A. No, I never dated Hef. I only posed for his magazine.

Q. Do you have any regrets about posing for Playboy?
A. I don't have any regrets period. I've been very blessed. One of my goals was always to write for Playboy - not pose. In my youth, my naivete, I thought that posing would perhaps be my way "in" with the company, but instead found that I'd actually shot myself in the foot with that decision. I don't regret posing as a Playmate, but I was bummed to find that the general theme, even within Playboy Enterprises, was that "smart" females worked behind the scenes for the company in writing and publication, and the "hot" ones took their clothes off and dated celebs and made headlines. It was disappointing. That's part of the reason I published my own magazine. I figured I'd just do it myself, and I'm very pleased that I did. Starting my own magazine was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I've ever taken on. Lots more about this in my upcoming book.

Q. What is something that many people don't know about you?
A. Hmmm... I'm completely deaf in one of my ears.... I'm ambidextrous.... I'm an Esthetician and completely obsessed with skin and skin-care products.

Q. What is something you've never done that you've always wanted to do?
A. Have children! My husband wants four. Whew! Maybe we'll have two and adopt two... you never know. We can't wait to be parents. He's going to be a wonderful father.

Q. Who, in your opinion, is the most beautiful woman on the planet?
A. I believe the cliche that true beauty radiates from inside, so I'd have to say that my sister and close friends fit that bill completely. When it comes to women I don't know personally I'd say Kristin Kreuk is the most beautiful. She's half Asian and half Caucasian - the best mix there is in my opinion.

Q. Who is your best friend?
A. I have many close female friends, but my sister is by far one of my favorites.

Q. If you died tomorrow, how would you want people to remember you?
A. As a kind, happy person... and a true and loyal friend.
